Image above was pre-diagnosis by my daughter of the 'Alien Baby'. This tumour has been removed but the battle to eradicate the disease continues.
What a cocktail...looks like it is Pip serving it up. It's not easy fronting up at the hospital knowing that yuckie side effects are imminent. Bravo!

ReplyDeleteDay 1 and I did better a lot better than the Australian cricket season did most of the season. Felt very light headed, nausea and lost energy immediate on taking drugs. But after some nausea pills came right and feeling pretty good all evening. It's a very unnatural process pulling harmful & highly toxic drugs into your body and although its for the greater good inevitably you get concerned on the possible impact of side effects. But feeling good, positive and pleased to get through the first day well.

In between sessions, if your'e up to putting other harmful things in your body (like cream cakes, coffee...) I'll shout.

Day 2 on the whole went well, I felt very light headed and weak. At times I have felt quite euphoric which I think is the steroids they use to counteract the toxins they pump in. Late afternoon I started getting very very sleepy and since them have been out cold for 18 hours, only to be woken by a friendly tug on my toe by a friendly doctor or bunch or call of nature. I woke this morning feeling very icky but have now shaken that off. The nursing in ward 8c is suburb, a very relaxed, competent and caring team. Countdown 20 hours to checkout.

Its been a tough and unpleasnt weekend, but I seem to be through the worst and feeling more human again. Cancer is a devil, you get through one issue and then another emerges that you need to cope with and conquer.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed the DVD 'He Oranga He Oranga Healing Journeys'...apart from all the positive messages it was good to see a blend of different aged people talking and the backdrop of N Z nature scenes was stunning. Good music too. Thanks!
